I'm an internet professional with 15 years experience developing web sites, web applications, social applications and mobile web applications. Over the past five years in addition to continuing as a web engineer (mainly front-end), I've managed engineering and QA teams (both onshore as well as offshore) throughout the life-cycle of the project from planning to deployment. I've worked within global network advertising agencies as well as small startups and have worked to streamline the digital process in both types of agencies. I'm the type of person that likes to be nimble and contribute to every level of a project. It's my goal to continue this pursuit, to continue to remain on the leading edge of engineering technologies and be an innovator and leader in the industry.
Independent Contractor, Front-end Engineer, Salt Lake City, UT - January 2014 - Present
Over the past few weeks I've been contracting on a short-term project to build an AngularJS application for a large brand campaign. My focus has been on the mobile HTML5 portion of the site (responsive design). I'm also pursuing additional projects ranging from project management, to development, to quality assurance.
Principal Technologist/Director of Technology, Hoverstate, Los Angeles and Bay Area - September 2010 - December 2013
I started out as a Principal Technologist leading web development projects for clients such as Electronic Arts and Nike to develop modern web sites and applications. During this time I helped lead both on and offshore development teams. I helped manage the internal AWS instances and infrastructure. Toward the end of my experience with Hoverstate I was Director of Technology, and worked closely with the management of the agency, the engineering and QA teams. I helped define processes, mentor developers and project managers, and worked closely with the QA team. Throughout this time I continued as an engineer working on social media campaigns, web and mobile applications.
Sr. Web Developer, Euro RSCG Edge, Portland, OR - June 2006 - November 2010
I worked with Euro RSCG Edge as a lead front-end engineer with clients such as iShares, Visa and Adobe. I worked on large corporate web applications as well as marketing web sites, and social and email campaigns. While much of my work was working with large teams of engineers, creatives and strategists (both internal and external), I also worked with a team to open a satellite office in Salt Lake City.
Online Editor, Daily Utah Chronicle, University of Utah - 2002-2005
Maintained and managed the online version of the U of U student newspaper. During this time I helped streamline the process of communication between the editors of the print and online editions of the paper. Helped plan and design a new CMS.
Tehnologist, Dahlin Smith White (Euro RSCG) - 1999-2001
I cut my teeth as a front-end engineer at DSW on leading-edge clients such as Intel and Iomega. I helped build and maintain Intel's B2B website during this time and worked with large teams of creatives and engineers to help define and navigate the industry as it was really taking flight before the dot-com boom.
University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT - B.A. English, 2004
I'm an avid snowboarder, photographer, hiker, climber and dad. If I'm not cranking on a web project I'm most likely somewhere outside on a mountain or in a canyon with my camera.
